According to its Twitter profile, the 8-Bit Symphony is a musical group comprised of Mexican musicians and arrangers who are presenting popular video game songs in grand symphonic fashion. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has rendered social gatherings dangerous or completely impossible, making it difficult to hold orchestral concerts. In order to perform the Persona track together, the group had to get creative, similar to the Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s musicians who remotely performed the game’s theme together.

Ronaldo Laztra took to Twitter to post the video of his ensemble performing “Poem of Everyone’s Souls” together. The track, composed by Shoji Meguro, is notable in that it features in multiple Persona games as the haunting operatic theme that plays whenever players enter the otherworldly Velvet Room.

Meguro is a master of blending musical styles to give each Persona title a distinctive identity, while still remaining stylistically cohesive with the franchise as a whole. The results are phenomenal, and Persona 5’s soundtrack, in particular, helped define music for this console generation.

Persona developer and publisher, Atlus, is currently riding high on the recent release of Persona 5 Royal, which managed to fix several problems in the original. 8-Bit Symphony’s timely performance will likely earn several new followers, and many re-watches as franchise fans speculate about what the next title in the series will look and sound like.
