“I Bet You Think About Me” comes from Swift’s vault, a number of tracks that were not included in the original version of Red which was released in 2012. Not only has the song quickly become a favorite amongst fans, but Swift also announced Lively was going to be the director of the music video, which stars Divergent’s Miles Teller as her ex-boyfriend.

The video premiered on Monday, November 15, just three days after the release of Red (Taylor’s Version) and fans have been decoding all of the niche references and Easter eggs planted in the video by Swift and Lively.

Newsweek has a full breakdown of all of the biggest Easter eggs included in the video from nods to Ed Sheeran to the famous Red Scarf.

1. The Cake = Ed Sheeran

At the beginning of “I Bet You Think About Me”, Swift draws two lines with her fingers in the red velvet wedding cake, making an equal sign.

Swift’s sleuths are certain the equals sign is a nod to Ed Sheeran, who Swift collaborated on Red with back in 2012 with the song “Everything Has Changed.”

Further, some fans suspect the equals sign is a hint that a duet with Sheeran is on the way, as it is the title of his new album.

Sheeran himself recently teased he would be working on a remix of his song “The Joker And the Queen” with an “American Artist” and fans are now convinced that the artist is Swift.

After all, Swift’s name is on his jacket for The Joker and the Queen and Swift recently released a set of playing cards as part of her merchandise.

2. The Scarf

In “I Bet You Think About Me”, Swift gifts the bride (played by Miles Teller’s real-life wife Keleigh Teller) a red scarf, a direct reference to the famous Red Scarf from “All Too Well”.

The same red scarf also appeared in the “All Too Well” short film, starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien.

3. The Countless 1989 references

There are numerous references to Swift’s 2014 album 1989 in the music video for “I Bet You Think About Me” and fans are certain 1989 will be the next album Swift is set to release.

Starting with the cake, the top tier of the cake is decorated in numbers including 13, Swift’s favorite number. The number 26 also features on the cake, the age Swift was when 1989 was released.

At one point Taylor stuffs a huge slice of the cake in her mouth, similar to the scene in the 1951 “Blank Space” music video.

Swift is no stranger to smashing cakes and even did so in the music video for “You Need to Calm Down.”

The bottom layer of the cake is also decorated in birds, similar to the birds Swift swore on her jumper for the 1989 album cover.

Towards the end of the video, Swift draws a lot of parallels to Alice in Wonderland. Swiftie’s will know the song “Wonderland” was a deluxe track in 1989, where Swift sings about a relationship tumbling down a “rabbit hole”.

The fact Miles Teller’s first major film role was in the Nicole Kidman film titled Rabbit Hole is also not a coincidence in many fans eyes.

At the end of the video, Swift’s white wedding dress which is covered in white roses turns red, just like when Alice in the 1951 film Alice in Wonderland is painting white roses red and spills the paint on her dress.

4. Speak Now

“I Bet You Think About Me” is not the first time Swift has portrayed herself as a wedding crasher.

In her third album titled Speak Now was seriously wedding-themed with the title song referring to a fictional story about someone objecting to a wedding.

Minus the fact the entire video for “I Bet You Think About Me” is set at a wedding, throughout the video there are other references to Speak Now with some fans certain it will be her next album.

For example, her red dress at the end of “I Bet You Think About Me”, is very similar to the voluminous gown she wore on the deluxe edition of Speak Now.

5. The Red Rings

In the music video for “I Bet You Think About Me” Taylor is seen wearing a red, diamond-shaped ring, the same ring that features on the album cover for Red (Taylor’s Version).

Swift is also seen wearing a red love heart ring, the same ring director Blake Lively posted on her Instagram and was spotted wearing at Swift’s SNL performance of “All Too Well.”

6. Aaron Dessner Cameo

Aaron Dessner, who worked on Swift’s lockdown albums Folklore and Evermore makes an appearance in the music video for “I Bet You Think About Me” as a member of Swift’s band.

He also helped Swift re-record Red (Taylor’s Version).

7. The Children’s Table

At one point, Swift is seen sitting at the children’s table at the wedding, making them laugh and teaching them tricks.

Fans are certain this is a nod to “All Too Well”, where she sings about the age difference in her relationship, presumably with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Swift sings in the 10-minute version: “You said if we had been closer in age/ Maybe it would have been fine/ And that made me want to die.”

When Swift and Gyllenhaal dated, she was 19/20 and he was 29/30.

8. The Blue and Grey Lights

When Swift dances with Miles Teller, who is portraying her ex-boyfriend at the wedding in “I Bet You Think About Me”, the light changes from bright to a dark blue, a reference to her song “Red”, where she sings “losing him blue like I’ve never known”

The same thing happens in the “All Too Well” music video, when Her (played by Sadie Sink) and Him (Dylan O’Brien) “dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light”, the light turns from yellow to blue when focusing on Him.

When Swift walks away from Teller in “I Bet You Think About Me”, the light turns to gray, referencing the “Red” lyrics: “missing him was dark gray all alone.”

Red (Taylor’s Version) is out now.
