RELATED: Biggest Mistakes In Xbox History, Ranked

That doesn’t mean that games from these two eras will be gone forever. Fans can still hope for some remasters which is still a popular way to bring back old games either on their own or in a collection. Will Microsoft bring these original Xbox games to the Xbox Series X anytime soon?

8 Auto Modellista

Auto Modellista was a racing game developed by Capcom that hit all major platforms in this console generation. Capcom was not known for making racing games but they gave it their best shot. It wasn’t the greatest racer of that era but what made it unique was its art style. Auto Modellista was cel-shaded like an anime and because of that, the game still looks good today, especially through emulation. A proper HD remaster would make it even better looking though.

7 Darkwatch

Bringing back Darkwatch now through an HD remaster would be a good idea. This was a first-person shooter set in the old west. Instead of rogue cowboys, players fought off vampires and other creatures of the night like skeleton warriors. Vampires seem to be the new zombies in video games now what with the upcoming releases of Redfall, Evil West, and Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong. That’s why now would be a good time to resurge the Darkwatch brand. A sequel would be better, as there was one planned before it got canceled, but beggars can’t be choosers.

6 Dino Crisis 3

Dino Crisis 3 was not celebrated as highly as the other games in the series. It was like jumping the shark the video game as the premise was too wild for words even for a horror game. The two original games can best be described as Resident Evil but with dinosaurs.

Dino Crisis 3 was that as well except it took place in space instead of laboratories on Earth. It wasn’t the greatest end to a video game trilogy but a few tweaks in a remaster could help make it better.

5 Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel is a forgotten chapter in the series. The original games were PC RPGs only but this spinoff was exclusive to consoles. Instead of a tactical game, this spinoff was more like Diablo. It was a top-down action RPG with loot and the ability to play in two-player co-op. It was clunky in its execution but by no means a bad game. Interestingly, this was never revisited for a sequel. Perhaps a remaster could spark interest in a sequel decades later.

4 Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks might be the best spinoff this series has ever seen. Before this, there were two brawlers around the PS1 generation. Both of them scored low when they launched and they’re not well remembered now. Shaolin Monks, on the other hand, was a good brawler. It starred Liu Kang and Kung Lao in their quest to protest Earthrealm from the usual suspects. It was not the most innovative brawler or action game of its time but it was still a blast, especially in local co-op.

3 Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy was a third-person shooter with a twist. Players also got to control a plethora of psychic abilities that they gained as the game progressed. Players could corrupt minds, levitate objects, start fires, and the list goes on.

The powers were the highlight of the game but the shooting was decent as well. There were two psychic-powered games of this era, including Second Sight, and both deserve an HD remaster. If fans can only pick one, chances are Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy will win the popular vote.

2 The Thing

Most movie tie-in games are bad. Some great examples bucked the trend though and The Thing was one of them. It was a sequel to the original movie and was a survival-horror game. The unique thing about the campaign was that the story could be different depending on choices. Whoever the titular “Thing” was could change between playthroughs. This made it a lot more challenging since players couldn’t write exact walkthroughs online. It’s a tough game with some clunky controls but it sure would be amazing to play it again on modern hardware.

1 Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie’s Revenge

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie’s Revenge was another good movie tie-in game that served as a sequel to the original film. Oogie Boogie returned from the dead to wreak havoc on the citizens of Halloween Town. Thankfully Jack was there once again to step in and save the day. It was an action platformer wherein Jack had a weird green goo-like whip that served as his weapon. The console versions were fun but so was the GBA version as well. A remaster of the console game would be good but a collection of both versions would be even better.
